❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes

Skills:

-Guitarist
-Song composition/writing
-Fantasy and ttrpg campaign writing
-Expert Dungeon Master

Canon Abilities: None he's just a lil human guy.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Eddie will have an incorporeal halo, translucent and copper in hue. His eyes will also change color during periods of heightened emotion.
Role Reasoning: Eddie is an exceptionally warm and kind person who has had to put on an exterior of appearing scary to the normies. He passionately doesn't conform as his main coping skill. He's so easily viewed as a murderer (possessed by Satan, some townies say) and is a pariah, has been outcast for as long as he can remember. But he is good in his heart and spirit, in how he treats others (bluster and snapping back at bullies is a necessary skill to maintain sanity/his image.) He's sacrificing and a mentor to his fellow outcasts who are younger, who join Hellfire Club. He doesn't think of himself as a hero, but instead a coward who always runs away. I think that he deserves the opportunity to be regarded as good (even if the halo imagery is a little too on point.) I want him to have a happier life, out of Hawkins, where he can be himself and around fellow interesting people who are inclined to help. Lots of possibilities, but that's an identity he deserves to feel is a true and realized one.

❥ Personality

Option 2.

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS:

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

His mother, Elizabeth - she died when he was six. She introduced him to a love of music, specifically the blues. She was undoubtedly the better parent, kind and compassionate, and her loss when he was old enough to see how amazing she was leaves a daily impact on him. He takes after her in who he is at his core, too.

His father, Al - a petty criminal who escalates his crimes enough to eventually get incarcerated. Maybe he was an okay dad when Elizabeth was alive, and maybe her loss impacted him deeply too, but either way, Al would regularly rope Eddie into his little schemes of small theft/drug running enterprises. He's seemingly the reason why the Munson name is regarded as poor, as a band of troublemakers, in town. Eddie resents him a great deal for trying/sometimes successfully getting him involved in criminal activity, that that's all his dad ever taught him. Al is an absent and neglectful parent too, disappearing and reappearing (when he needs help.)

His Uncle Wayne - Once his dad went to jail, Eddie moved in with his uncle. Wayne is the only adult who truly knows Eddie for who is: a kind, giving young man who would never hurt anyone. He advocates and stands up for Eddie (one of only a tiny number of people in Hawkins who does) when it's thought that his nephew had killed Chrissy. He accepts Eddie completely for who he is, including those societally maligned loves of Dungeons and Dragons, metal music, and the macabre. Wayne is also a very hard working blue collar worker, and Eddie admires his work ethic and devotion to family. He's really the dad in his life.

  • What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story?

-Wayne gave him his beloved guitar for this thirteenth birthday after Eddie showed an interest in the instrument and had a passion for writing lyrics. He's largely self-taught, and then learned more when he got close to a group of fellow metal lovers. Eddie has his guitar proudly displayed in his bedroom at he and Wayne's trailer, and it's a means of connecting the two even moreso. Music is his truest love, too and having an origin for his guitar shows why he loves that specific instrument.

-Eddie's love of Dungeons and Dragons goes back to when he was around ten. His dad took him along for to rob some storage units and when Al realized one of the boxes was full of books worth no money, he let Eddie have whatever he wanted from it. In addition to some fantasy novels, he found a first edition of a player's manual and immersed himself in it. It became his escape from having a neglectful father, and he's memorized the entire thing. Eddie's love of fantasy helps his true self to be genuinely authentic day to day. His bluntness and brashness isn't really a front, but it is a way to cope with the way the rest of the world responds to him, and having something he totally loses himself in is key to understanding him as a character. Having that escape means the rest of the world has no real power over him.

  • If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?

Change: pictures he and his group of friend's craving to have a revolution against those who conform in society, that they will eventually even through the difficulty and trials they face

Castles Crumbling: Eddie's adolescent angst of realizing how much he pushes everyone away, but how perfect life felt when his mom was still alive. a certain stage of his life where growing his protective armor felt harder since it was still new, as he was developing interests that the majority of people see as weird/bad/evil

Long Live: he's failed senior year twice and this tune represents a perfect graduation song for him. he does want to graduate, very much so! but he also wants to be able to proudly put high school (and as a result, the judgy people of Hawkins) behind him with a badass, "fuck you" attitude, and he is bound and determined to make that happen

Mean: he's been bullied throughout most of his school years, but he definitely knows he'll be a successful musical artist someday and that'll show all the people who hurt him

The Moment I Knew: memories of realizing his dad would never show up when it mattered, and Eddie did come to that conclusion at a young age (around 8 or 9) when he was hungry to be cherished and loved by his dad but a vacuum continued to grow instead

Marjorie & Bigger Than The Whole Sky: both hold imagery and evoke feelings that he has about the values his mother taught him, and how important she was and continues to be to him in spite of no longer being alive

  • What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?

Being Dungeon Master at a D&D game, the members of Hellfire Club holding onto his every word. It's when he feels the most confident due to feeling like he's a leader. The decider of how the story will go, what the party might endure and face. He's escaped into fantasy for much of his life and doing so along with other kids who are passionate about interactive storytelling as he is? It's just the most satisfied he can feel, where he has purpose. Hosting games at the school after hours adds to the confidence level, too. It's a place he and his friends have been bullied, but once everyone is gone? They have all the power.

A close second is when he's shredding guitar on stage, any captive audience member watching. Doesn't have to be more than one person, and he could play to an empty bar and still feel comfortable and settled, like he's truly being himself. He was born to lose himself in the feel of the bass from his amp, of strings at his fingers. It's intense, but it's a safespace, too.
